CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A Carbondale man was arrested after police responded to a report of gunfire early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Officers with the Carbondale Police Department responded about 3:18 a.m. March 4 to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane after receiving reports of shots fired. Police said the suspect had fled the area in a vehicle before officers arrived.

Investigators located evidence that shots had been fired, but no injuries or property damage were reported. Officers said the incident appeared to stem from a personal dispute.

The suspect’s vehicle was later found abandoned, and investigators identified the suspect as Cordell B. Taylor, 35, of Carbondale. Police obtained an arrest warrant charging Taylor with reckless discharge of a firearm.

Taylor was located and arrested about 6:30 p.m. the same day. Officers also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
