Du Quoin woman arrested after domestic disturbance, police say

DU QUOIN, Ill. (KBSI) — A Du Quoin woman was arrested Wednesday after police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex, according to the Du Quoin Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at about 5:21 p.m. March 4 to an apartment complex in reference to a domestic disturbance. During the investigation, officers identified Tonya L. Erb as the primary aggressor in the dispute.

Police said the male victim had visible injuries.

While officers were assessing the victim, Erb locked herself inside the apartment and refused to cooperate with officers. A short time later, officers gained access to the apartment, where Erb allegedly made threatening and violent statements toward officers.

Erb was taken into custody and transported to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, where she was turned over to jail staff.

She was issued citations for domestic battery, aggravated assault of a peace officer, and obstruction or resisting.

All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
