Orange Barrel Report March 10
FOX23 News at 9 p.m.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) Route 51 in Butler County will be closed as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.
This section of roadway is located from County Road 212 to County Road 214 near Qulin, Missouri.
Weather permitting, work will take place Thursday, March 12 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
As a reminder, a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is implementing lane restrictions on Interstate 24 in Lyon County starting today, March 10, as part of an interstate asphalt rehab project spanning about 10 miles in Lyon and Caldwell counties.
The project will run from mile points 45.1 to 55.4, between Exit 45 (KY 293) in Lyon County and Exit 56 (KY 139) in Caldwell County. During the first phase, crews will work in Lyon County only, nearer to Exit 45.
For approximately six weeks, motorists should expect one lane in each direction on I-24 in about a five-mile stretch between mile points 45.1 and 50, as crews construct a crossover. Watch for signage and use caution in the work zone.
Around late April, traffic will shift to the eastbound lanes in a head-to-head configuration using the newly constructed crossover, as both westbound lanes close for full-depth paving. A temporary barrier wall will be in place along the center of the eastbound lanes to safely accommodate two-way traffic.
In the fall, during the next phase of the project, lane restrictions and crossover construction will occur in the next five-mile segment between mile points 50 to 55.4, spanning two counties. In December, work will pause for the winter and resume in spring 2027.
The work zone will have a reduced speed limit of 55 mph and an enhanced police presence. Fines may be doubled when signs are flashing, indicating workers are present.
KYTC District 1 will provide updates as the project progresses
