Power outages reported across Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) — Hundreds of customers in Franklin County are without electricity as strong winds move through the region.

County officials say about 649 customers were without power as of 9:57 a.m. Utility crews are aware of the outages and are working to restore service.

Emergency management officials warn that windy conditions are expected to continue throughout the day, with the possibility of severe weather later this evening, which could lead to additional outages.

Residents are urged to use caution if they encounter downed power lines and to avoid the area. Officials say anyone who sees a downed line should call 911 immediately.

Officials also remind residents that 911 should only be used for emergencies. Anyone experiencing an outage should report it directly to their power provider.
