Attic fire on Kira Court contained; no injuries reported

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Firefighters responded to a structure fire early Monday on Kira Court, where a furnace fire spread into the attic, according to the Carbondale Fire Department.
Crews were dispatched around 6 a.m. March 16 and found the fire had extended into the attic of the home upon arrival. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and worked to prevent the fire from spreading further.
Fire personnel also conducted salvage operations to protect the homeowner’s belongings and assisted with removing items from the residence.
The fire was contained to the attic, though water damage was reported to the ceiling and areas below due to firefighting efforts.
Officials said the fire was accidental, and no injuries were reported.
