Cape Girardeau to host 41st annual Friends of the Parks Day, cleanup event

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department will host the 41st annual Friends of the Parks Day and Great Cape Clean Up on Saturday, April 18.

The annual event focuses on park beautification efforts, with volunteers helping plant flower beds, mulch playgrounds, paint equipment and complete other improvement projects across city parks.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Capaha Park Shelter No. 3, with the event scheduled to run until noon. Volunteers will receive lunch and a T-shirt while supplies last.

Officials said groups interested in working at a specific park can contact the Parks Division for arrangements. Additional information and registration details are available through the Friends of the Park – City of Cape Girardeau.
