Man arrested in connection with fatal Scott County shooting

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A Sikeston man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in Scott County, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested Austin J. Nance, 23, of Sikeston, around 7 p.m. March 20 on Dolly Drive without incident.
Authorities said the arrest is related to a shooting that occurred March 19. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found an adult male who had been shot. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
Nance is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is being held on a no-bond warrant.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said additional information will be released as it becomes available. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
