Cape Girardeau man charged with murder, robbery in 2025 killing

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A Cape Girardeau man has been charged in connection with a fatal assault that occurred in November 2025, according to the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Johnnie Malik Walker, 25, is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence and two counts of armed criminal action.
The charges stem from an incident around 1:55 a.m. Nov. 1, 2025, when Cape Girardeau police responded to the 600 block of Morgan Oak Street for a reported assault. Officers found a female victim who had been attacked. Authorities said the victim later died from her injuries.
Walker is currently being held on unrelated charges in St. Louis. A no-bond warrant has been issued in the case by Judge Amy Trueblood.
The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office credited the Cape Girardeau Police Department, the Cape Girardeau/Bollinger County Major Case Squad and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
