Cape Girardeau veterans home staff member earns national caregiving award

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — A staff member at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau has been recognized with a national award for caregiving excellence.
Margaret George, recreation and music therapy supervisor, was named a 2025 Ceca Award honoree, selected from more than 2,000 nominees and 18 finalists.
George was nominated for her work supporting veterans through recreational activities and therapy programs that promote well-being and community connection.
Officials said George has worked at the Cape Girardeau veterans’ home since 2006 and is known for organizing outings, events and special experiences for residents.
The Ceca Foundation, which presents the award, recognizes caregivers who demonstrate compassion, professionalism and a commitment to high-quality care.
The Missouri Veterans Commission said George’s recognition reflects her dedication to serving veterans and enhancing their quality of life.
