Prescription Drug Take Back Day set for April 25 in Paducah

FOX23 News at 9 p.m

PADUCAH, Ky. — The Paducah Police Department, Drug Enforcement Administration and McCracken County ASAP will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 25.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the Purchase District Health Department, 916 Kentucky Ave.

Officials said the event offers residents a safe and anonymous way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medications. Only pills and patches will be accepted. Liquids, needles, syringes, vapes and inhalers will not be collected.

Organizers said unused medications in homes can increase the risk of misuse, theft and accidental ingestion. In Kentucky, pediatric overdose and ingestion cases have increased significantly in recent years.

During the fall 2025 event, more than 11,300 pounds of medications were collected statewide.

Officials encourage residents to take part in the event to help prevent prescription drug misuse in the community.
