Carbondale fire department to begin hydrant flushing April 6

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The Carbondale Fire Department will begin hydrant flushing and inspections Monday, April 6.

Crews will work weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following intersections:

South Illinois Avenue and West Grand Avenue
South Oakland Avenue and West Chautauqua Street
South Wall Street and East Park Street

Residents may notice changes in water pressure and possible discoloration during the work. Officials say the water will remain safe to drink. However, residents are advised to wait a few hours before doing laundry if discoloration occurs.
