Menards pet supply drive begins April 1 to support local shelters

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — A nationwide pet supplies drive is kicking off at Menards stores, giving community members a simple way to support local animals in need.

As shelters continue to face high demand for supplies, the drive aims to meet those growing needs across local communities.

The two-month drive runs from April 1 through May 31. Customers can purchase pet items in-store and donate them before leaving, and each location partners with a local shelter or organization.

In Paducah, the store will send all donations directly to the McCracken County Humane Society. Paducah store manager Stephen McEwen said the goal is to collect essential items that shelters rely on every day.

The drive accepts a wide range of pet supplies, including food, treats, collars and bedding.

“Any type of pet supplies… dog food, cat food, treats, collars, pet beds — things of that nature,” McEwen said.

Donation boxes will sit near the front of the store, making it easy for customers to contribute during their visit. McEwen said both customers and store team members can take part in the effort.

“We’ve had team members participate and help support the McCracken County Humane Society by donating items themselves,” he said.

Menards officials say each store keeps its donations within the local community, helping meet the needs of nearby shelters and the animals they serve.
