MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police Post 1 will conduct traffic safety checkpoints throughout its district to monitor compliance with motor vehicle laws, including driving under the influence.

Officials said the checkpoints are designed to promote roadway safety and deter violations of Kentucky traffic laws. Troopers will check for proper vehicle equipment, valid registration and insurance, and licensed drivers.

Drivers may also be checked for other public safety concerns encountered during the stops.

Motorists are encouraged to have their driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance readily available. Officials said drivers without violations can expect delays of about 30 seconds to a few minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Checkpoint locations, approved by supervisors, will be conducted in Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, McCracken, Marshall and Trigg counties.

A full list of checkpoint locations is available on the Kentucky State Police.
