Second-alarm fire in Zeigler damages structures amid high winds

ZEIGLER, Ill., (KBSI) — Fire crews responded to a second-alarm structure fire in the 100 block of Walnut Street in Zeigler involving two buildings and a camper.

The Benton Fire Department said additional resources were requested due to high winds and multiple spot fires reported within two blocks, caused by blowing embers.

One firefighter from another department was treated for a laceration caused by windblown glass fragments.
