Burglary suspect arrested after multiple business break-ins in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — A burglary suspect is in custody after multiple businesses were broken into Friday evening, according to the Cape Girardeau Police Department.
Officers responded around 7:20 p.m. April 3 to the 800 block of Enterprise Street for a reported burglary. While speaking with the victim, additional businesses in the area reported break-ins.
Police said officers located the suspect after a short foot pursuit. The suspect was identified as Dustin Sutliff, 22, of Jonesboro, Illinois.
Investigators said Sutliff is suspected of burglarizing multiple businesses in the area, causing approximately $3,100 in damages.
Officers also reported locating a bag of suspected methamphetamine when Sutliff was taken into custody.
Sutliff was transported to the police department and later charged through the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office with second-degree burglary, first-degree property damage, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor property damage.
He is being held without bond.
The charges are allegations, and Sutliff is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
