CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — Unofficial results show Robbie Guard leading in the Cape Girardeau mayor’s race Tuesday night.
As of the latest numbers, Guard has received 53.1% of the vote, while incumbent Stacey Kinder has received 46.9%.
Supporters gathered at Guard’s watch party as results came in, reacting as he maintained a steady lead throughout the night. During remarks to the crowd, Guard thanked supporters and reflected on the campaign.
In a statement shared with FOX23, Guard said:
“Both Mayor Kinder and I ran a really hard tough race. I can’t thank the Cape Girardeau voters enough and it’s time to move forward. It’s time to prosper. It’s time to put the election behind us and focus on the future of Cape Girardeau!”
The race centered on key issues including economic development, infrastructure, and public safety — topics that both candidates emphasized throughout their campaigns.
