CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The SEMO Redhawks are partnering with Mid-America Transplant to host Donate Life Games this weekend to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.
The events, held during National Donate Life Month, will take place April 10 and 11, with baseball and softball teams wearing blue and green uniforms — the national colors for donation awareness.
The baseball game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at Capaha Field, with tickets available online or at the gate. Registered organ donors can receive free admission with identification. The softball game will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Southeast Softball Complex and is free to attend.
Organizers said the games honor donor heroes and highlight the impact of donation in the region. In 2025, 126 people from southeast Missouri made 26 organ transplants possible, restored sight to 97 people and helped more than 9,000 others through tissue donation.
Officials said the event also recognizes former Southeast students whose donations saved and improved lives and aims to encourage more people to register as donors.
Mid-America Transplant officials said organ and tissue donation remains critical, noting thousands of people are on the national transplant waiting list.
More information on registering as a donor is available at Give Life | Mid-America Transplant.
