MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police has announced the graduation of 22 telecommunicators from its Telecommunications Academy, including one assigned to Post 1 in Mayfield.

Officials said the new telecommunicators will begin work at posts across the state, serving as dispatchers and coordinating emergency response efforts for law enforcement and public safety agencies.

Ava Puckett has been assigned to Post 1, officials said.

KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. said telecommunicators play a critical role in emergency response, noting the agency handled nearly 1 million calls and more than 532,000 requests for assistance in 2025.

The graduates completed 160 hours of training over four weeks, covering topics including emergency dispatch, communication, responder safety and stress management.

Officials said the new telecommunicators are now prepared to assist communities across Kentucky.
