Man arrested after high-speed pursuit ends in crash in Calloway County

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) — A man was arrested early Sunday morning after authorities say he led deputies on a pursuit that ended in a crash.
According to the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to pull the driver over on Pottertown Road. Officials say the driver sped away, reaching speeds of more than 85 miles per hour.
The pursuit ended when the driver lost control and crashed into several trees on Poplar Springs Road.
The driver, identified as Jonathan Gwaltney, was helped out of the vehicle after it caught fire, according to authorities. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Officials say Gwaltney is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol.
Charges have not yet been released.
