Carbondale citizens police academy explores DUI, K-9 and traffic stop training

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Participants in the Carbondale Police Department’s Advanced Citizens’ Police Academy learned about several law enforcement operations during a recent session.

Officials said the class covered topics including DUI investigations, K-9 operations and high-risk traffic stops.

The session included instruction and demonstrations led by Sgt. Maether, Officer Kawasaki, Officer Moorman and K-9 Zara.

The department said the program has two sessions remaining before participants graduate.
