Mount Vernon officer praised for rescuing dog from deep hole

MOUNT VERNON, Ill., (KBSI) — A Mount Vernon police officer is being recognized for rescuing a dog that fell into a deep hole.

The Mount Vernon Police Department said Cpl. Deadmond helped save the dog, named Maverick, after it became trapped.

The dog’s owner expressed appreciation for the officer’s actions, thanking him for assisting in the rescue.
