Scott County marks Missing Persons Month, highlights 1979 disappearance

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Scott County government buildings will be decorated with yellow ribbons throughout April in recognition of Missing Persons Month, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the display honors all missing persons, with special recognition given to Cheryl Anne Scherer, who disappeared April 17, 1979, while working at the Rhodes gas station in Scott City.

Investigators said they remain committed to finding answers in Scherer’s case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
