JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Iron Mountain Railway is inviting the public to help complete a community mural celebrating the centennial of U.S. Highway 61.
The “Paint for a Cause – Cape” Blues Highway 61 mural will be on display at the railway depot in Jackson on Saturday, May 2. Visitors are encouraged to add their own artistic touch before the mural is moved to the VisitCape office once completed.
Organizers said the project highlights the legacy of U.S. Highway 61, known as the “Blues Highway,” which runs from Minnesota to Louisiana and passes through southeast Missouri. The highway also crosses the railroad tracks in Jackson.
The mural will be available from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with train departures scheduled for 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Iron Mountain Railway.
