Shots fired investigation in Dunklin County leads to arrest, drug and weapons seizure

KENNETT, Mo., (KBSI) — Dunklin County deputies are investigating a reported shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon outside Kennett.
According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 5:16 p.m. to the area of County Road 532 for a report of shots fired.
Authorities said two individuals were involved in the incident. During the investigation, deputies determined one person confronted the other while armed with a rifle.
After initially leaving the scene, the armed individual allegedly followed the other person to a nearby residence, where multiple rounds were fired into an unoccupied vehicle. No injuries were reported.
A search warrant was later executed at the suspect’s residence. Deputies said they recovered two illegally possessed firearms with ammunition, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, as well as a quantity of suspected marijuana.
One person was taken into custody and transported to the Dunklin County Jail pending formal charges from the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said the Senath Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation. Authorities noted all subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
