Perryville Police Chief retires after 37 years of service

PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — The Perryville Police Department is honoring Chief Direk Hunt as he retires after more than 37 years of service to the community.
Hunt began his career with the department in 1988 as a patrol officer and later served in the traffic division, where he became a corporal and earned certifications in DWI detection and crash reconstruction. He later worked as a detective and lieutenant, also becoming a certified polygraph examiner.
He was appointed interim chief in 2013 and was elected city marshal in 2014, a position he held through multiple terms.
Department officials said Hunt’s decades of service and leadership have left a lasting impact on the community as he begins his retirement.
