JUST IN: Student charged after bomb threat at Carlisle County school — no explosives found

BARDWELL, Ky., (KBSI) — Authorities say no explosive device was found after a middle school student made a threat Tuesday at a Carlisle County school.

According to the Carlisle County Sheriff’s Office, a school resource officer reported that a student claimed to have placed an explosive device in the school library. Deputies and Bardwell police responded and assisted staff with evacuating students while a search of the campus was conducted.

Officials said no device was located, and the threat was determined to be verbal only.

Following an investigation and interviews with students and staff, criminal charges were filed against the student.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to students or staff.
