SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (KBSI) — An Illinois State Police squad car was struck Tuesday on Interstate 55 while a trooper conducted a commercial vehicle inspection, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. on northbound I-55 near milepost 88. Police said the squad car was parked on the shoulder with emergency lights activated while the trooper inspected a semi-truck.
