PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — Baptist Health Paducah is encouraging residents to safely dispose of unused or expired medications as part of spring-cleaning efforts and ahead of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
The hospital will host a medication drop-off site from 10 a.m. to noon April 25 at the Purchase District Health Department on Kentucky Avenue.
Health officials said proper disposal helps prevent accidental poisoning, misuse and overdose, particularly among children and pets.
In addition to the event, Baptist Health Paducah said its community pharmacy accepts unwanted medications year-round during regular business hours. Local law enforcement agencies and community organizations also offer take-back locations.
Officials are urging residents not to throw medications in the trash or flush them but instead use designated disposal sites.
