Cape Central High School implements phone-free school day

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Cape Central High School has implemented a phone-free school day using the Yondr program.

School administrators said the program is aimed at improving student engagement and classroom focus.

Principal Drew Church and school officials are overseeing the program, with support from Yondr representatives.

The Yondr program is used by more than 3 million students in more than 45 countries. Research cited by organizers indicates improvements in student focus, discipline and mental health following implementation.

School leaders said the program is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen school culture and enhance the learning environment.
