CHAFFEE, Mo., (KBSI) – The Chaffee Police Department has received the Missouri Blue Shield designation for 2026, recognizing the city’s efforts to strengthen public safety and support law enforcement.
The designation, awarded by the Missouri Department of Public Safety, highlights communities that demonstrate a commitment to reducing crime, investing in law enforcement and building partnerships with residents.
The Missouri Blue Shield Program was established in 2025 by Mike Kehoe through an executive order. More than 200 Missouri communities received the designation in its first year and were required to reapply for 2026 consideration.
State officials said the program supports law enforcement agencies through grant funding for training and equipment, pending approval of the state budget. The governor’s proposed fiscal year 2027 budget includes $10 million for the program.
Officials said Chaffee earned the designation based on its continued investment in public safety initiatives, including law enforcement funding, recruitment efforts and community partnerships.
Police Chief William Sullivan thanked state leaders for their support, saying the designation reflects the department’s ongoing commitment to protecting residents.
