JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) – The Arbor Day Foundation has named the Jackson a 2025 Tree City USA, recognizing the city’s commitment to urban forestry.
The designation honors communities that prioritize planting, maintaining and promoting trees to improve quality of life. Officials said Jackson met program standards, including maintaining a tree board or department, adopting a tree ordinance, investing in urban forestry and observing Arbor Day.
The Tree City USA program, now in its 50th year, highlights efforts to build healthier and more sustainable communities through tree management.
Officials said trees play a key role in reducing heat, improving air quality, managing stormwater and supporting overall community health.
The program is administered by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
