Graves County honors fallen Mayfield officer during National Police Week

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) — The Graves County Sheriff’s Office is honoring fallen law enforcement officers during National Police Week 2026, including Mayfield Police Officer Charles Kirksey Todd.
National Police Week is observed May 10-16 and recognizes officers who died in the line of duty.
The sheriff’s office said Officer Todd, identified as Unit 503, was killed Aug. 22, 1992, after being stabbed while attempting to break up a fight at a wedding he was attending while off duty.
According to the agency, an uninvited guest arrived at the wedding and began fighting with others. Todd intervened and was stabbed during the altercation.
Todd was 43 years old at the time of his death.
The sheriff’s office said Todd served alongside several current and retired members of the Mayfield Police Department and Graves County Sheriff’s Office. The agency said it continues to honor Todd and his family for the sacrifice he made in service to the City of Mayfield.
