Obion County Sheriff’s Office warns residents about phone scam

OBION COUNTY, Tenn., (KBSI) — The Obion County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about scam calls from people posing as sheriff’s office employees and claiming citizens missed a federal court date.
According to the sheriff’s office, the callers are attempting to obtain personal information from residents over the phone.
Officials said the Obion County Sheriff’s Office does not contact people by phone regarding missed court dates and will never ask for personal or financial information over the phone.
Residents who receive one of the calls are advised not to provide information, send money or make any form of payment. The sheriff’s office said anyone receiving a suspicious call should hang up immediately.
