Southern Seven hosts breast cancer awareness walk in Southern Illinois

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS (KBSI) — Southern Seven Health Department is thanking community members, volunteers and local organizations for supporting its “Glow Up & Show Up” Breast Cancer Walk held May 8.
The health department said the event helped raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection and routine screenings.
Organizers credited community support, volunteers and participants for helping make the event successful and thanked Teresa Wilburn and her staff for planning the event.
Southern Seven also recognized several individuals and organizations for donating time, services and support, including photographer Alex Lenz, DJ Randy Gorst and master of ceremonies Lance Meisenheimer.
Additional thanks were extended to Shawnee Community College, AJ High School cheerleaders, Egyptian Area Agency on Aging, Rural Health Inc., Arrowleaf, Faith Story, Jill Zeschke and several food vendors that participated in the event.
The health department said the event aimed to continue spreading awareness, hope and encouragement throughout Southern Illinois communities while promoting conversations about breast cancer prevention and early detection.
