HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) — Herrin police arrested a man Sunday in connection with a burglary investigation on North Park Avenue.

According to the Herrin Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 3000 block of North Park Avenue on May 10 after a homeowner reported a man entered a garage without permission and damaged property inside before leaving the area.

Police said the suspect was driving a white van that was later located unattended near Neil Tire on North Park Avenue.

Following an investigation that included surveillance video review, officers identified the suspect as 34-year-old Larry D. Sanders of Herrin.

Sanders was charged with burglary, criminal damage and possession of a stolen vehicle. Investigators said the van had been reported stolen from another residence prior to the incident.

Sanders is being held at the Williamson County Jail pending further court proceedings.

Authorities reminded residents to secure their property and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.

An arrest or charge is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
