Construction work prompts temporary closures along Paducah riverfront

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A portion of the Greenway Trail and North Water Street in Schultz Park will close beginning Monday as crews install a new U.S. Geological Survey River sensor as part of Paducah’s BUILD Grant riverfront project.

According to the City of Paducah, the closures are expected to last about one week, weather permitting.

The affected area includes the river side of the floodwall from the transient dock area to the Farmers’ Market and Jefferson Street openings. Officials said the linear parking area will remain open during construction.

The city is asking pedestrians and motorists to use caution and follow all posted barricades and traffic controls.

The BUILD Grant riverfront project is expected to be completed this summer. Planned improvements include a 500-foot excursion pier and plaza, intersection upgrades near the convention center, a new multimodal pathway near the Quilt Murals, expanded park space near the transient dock and new bus shelters.
