CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Carbondale will host a guided group ride along the Carbondale Historic Bike Tour on May 28 in recognition of Bike Month and Historic Preservation Month.

The ride will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Town Square Pavilion and is part of the city’s ongoing Carbondale Bikes! group ride series launched earlier this year.

According to the city, the approximately five-mile loop will guide riders through Carbondale and the Southern Illinois University campus while highlighting local landmarks, historic sites, murals, monuments and longtime businesses.

Organizers said the ride will include stops along the route where guides will share information about local history and community landmarks.

The event is expected to last about two hours and will begin and end at the Town Square Pavilion.

Participants are required to wear helmets and sign a waiver before participating in the ride.
