Law enforcement memorial ceremony honors fallen heroes

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A law enforcement ceremony brought local officers and patrolman together in Cape Girardeau.

Hosted by SALT(Seniors and Law enforcement Together) the ceremony was held at the Cape Bible Chapel and began with music and prayer.

The event took place on Thursday at 10:00 am.

Guest speaker Kathleen Riggs-Ruopp shared her personal experience of losing both her husband and brother in the line of duty and the challenges she and her children faced after. She talked about how she dealt with grief, healing and motherhood after losing two of the most important men in her life.

Dozens of fallen heroes were announced by name in remembrance at the ceremony and local officers received rewards for their dedication.
