UNION CITY, Tenn., (KBSI) — Union City School System students and staff are mourning the death of Union City High School junior Paul Martin Tohn, who died Thursday evening from injuries suffered in a vehicle crash in Weakley County.

School officials said Tohn was the son of Union City Elementary School teacher Katie Tohn and Kenny Tohn. He was also a member of the school’s tennis and golf teams.

“Paul Martin was a wonderful young man and a true Golden Tornado,” Union City High School Principal Jacob Cross said in a statement Friday morning.

Cross said the school system would provide support for students and staff following the tragedy. School counselors and area church youth leaders were made available on all three Union City school campuses Friday.

Union City Director of Schools Wes Kennedy said the district would focus on supporting students, staff and the Tohn family in the coming days.

The Tohn family also has two other children enrolled in the Union City School System.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete as of Friday.
