Benton under precautionary boil water order following water main break
FOX23 News at 9 p.m
BENTON, Ill., (KBSI) — Benton city officials said repairs have been completed following a water main break that caused low water pressure across the city Sunday.
Crews reopened hydrants and restored water to the system while monitoring the repair to ensure it holds, according to the city.
Officials asked residents to wait before testing their water lines as crews continue stabilizing the system.
A citywide precautionary boil water order has been issued for all Benton Water customers after the loss of pressure caused by the break.
Residents experiencing low water pressure or discolored water are encouraged to check faucet screens and run an outdoor faucet briefly to help clear debris or air from water lines.
Questions regarding the boil order can be directed to Benton Public Works Director Dailus Richardson at 618-439-6131, option 2.
