Cape Girardeau celebrates opening of new youth sports complex at Shawnee Park

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce joined Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation in celebrating the opening of the new Youth Outdoor Sports Complex at the Shawnee Park Sports Complex.

Officials said the facility includes 10 turf fields and has the capacity to host more than 75 teams for youth sporting events.

Community leaders said the complex is expected to support local athletes while also boosting sports tourism in the Cape Girardeau area.
