CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced all lanes of Interstate 64 will close near the Illinois-Indiana state line overnight Tuesday, May 26, and Wednesday, May 27, as crews perform emergency bridge repairs over the Wabash River.
Closures are scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., weather permitting. The work is expected to take two nights to complete.
Posted detours will direct eastbound traffic through Exit 130 and Illinois 1, while westbound traffic will be rerouted via Exit 18 and Indiana 65.
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will also resume lane restrictions on U.S. 45x/Kentucky Avenue in Paducah on Tuesday, May 26.
Crews will work at Kentucky Avenue and S. 24th Street Tuesday through Friday, weather permitting. Motorists should expect one-lane traffic in both directions and are urged to use caution.
The project will be completed in multiple phases, including concrete rehab, temporary striping, milling and paving, and permanent striping. There may be a break between work phases in June.
The overall project is expected to be completed by the end of August.
Route TT in Stoddard County will also be reduced to one lane as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform bridge maintenance.
The work zone is located from North Street to County Road 488 near Dudley, Missouri.
Weather permitting, maintenance work will take place Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
