Mount Vernon Memorial Day ceremony honors fallen service members, Gold Star families

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office joined community members for a Memorial Day ceremony on the north side of the courthouse in Mount Vernon.

Officials said the ceremony honored Gold Star families and service members who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The sheriff’s office thanked all military members for their service and reflected on the importance of remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
