Kentucky State Police investigates McCracken County inmate death

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police Post 1 detectives are investigating the death of an inmate at the McCracken County Jail.

According to KSP, troopers are contacted Tuesday, May 27, after jail staff report an inmate was found unresponsive and transported to a local hospital, where he is pronounced dead.

The inmate is identified as 29-year-old Michael Sackatook of Paducah.

Investigators say Sackatook was housed in an isolation cell under constant surveillance. After reviewing surveillance footage, detectives say no foul play is suspected.

An autopsy is conducted Wednesday, May 28. KSP says medical complications are discovered during the examination and no signs of foul play are found.

The investigation remains ongoing.
