Local tattoo shop owner ‘makes a splash’ for local kids

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – One local tattoo artist is making a big splash for area kids by renting out Cape Splash for a back-to-school celebration.

 Vernon Greer is the owner of Burnt Hearts Luxury Tattoo Studio located in Cape Girardeau.

“The community has been helping our tattoo shop, not only run, but also, become a more than profitable business” says Greer. “So, I figured, what better way to give back to the children than to not only do something different, but to do something a bit bigger than what we usually do, so opted out to see what our options were. I had no idea that we could rent out a water park, so when I found that out, I say, hey, tell me what the price is and we’ll get it done.”

Greer rented out the Cape Splash waterpark to hold a back-to-school bash in August first from 6:30-8:30 pm, he shares details.

“Not calling it a party, necessarily, but a part of or an add on to our back-to-school giveaway. So, with that, if you are in high school, middle school, elementary school or pre-K, you are more than welcome. Adults are also more than welcome as well. If you have any older sisters or older brothers, they are welcome to come. However, the event is not open to everyone. We want to keep the environment family friendly and also make sure that everyone is comfortable. Make sure that it’s a safe environment for everyone as well” says Greer.

Greer shares that since moving to Cape Girardeau from St. Louis to attend SEMO he’s met many families that faced hardships some of those hardships being low-income obstacles, so he wanted to give back and be an example. 

“So, if I can give them something, or if my shop can provide children with an opportunity to do something fun, why not?” says Greer.
