ORAN, Mo., (KBSI) — A Scott County man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he made threats against individuals and a workplace following his termination from a local business.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, deputies investigated reports of threats made at the Mad Hatter factory, located at 1511 Main St. in Oran.

The investigation determined Maverick Shannon Giltz, 28, of Oran, allegedly made threats toward specific individuals and the workplace after his employment ended.

Sheriff’s officials said the threats prompted more than 20 employees to leave work or avoid reporting to work because of safety concerns.

A warrant has been issued for Giltz on charges of first-degree terrorist threat, a Class D felony, and two counts of fourth-degree assault, Class C misdemeanors.

No bond was issued.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said it takes all threats of violence seriously and will continue working to protect residents, businesses and employees throughout the county.

An arrest warrant or criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
