PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A Paducah man was arrested Tuesday after police investigated a reported disturbance near St. Mary Elementary School.

According to the Paducah Police Department, officers were dispatched around 7:50 a.m. after a caller reported seeing two people arguing near the entrance of the school. The caller told dispatchers a man was holding a gun behind the door of a pickup truck during the incident.

Detectives later located a truck matching the description near North 12th and Palm streets and conducted a traffic stop.

Police said Cedrek J. Pipes, 37, of Paducah, exited the vehicle holding what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette. During a search of the truck, detectives found a Taurus .38 Special revolver inside a bag in the bed of the vehicle. Investigators said they observed Pipes place the bag in the truck bed before the stop.

Authorities said Pipes is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Pipes was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail. He is charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana.
