Missouri State Highway Patrol investigating Sikeston arrest incident

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Sikeston Department of Public Safety has requested an independent investigation into an incident that occurred while officers were attempting to take an individual into custody on the evening of June 10.
According to a department news release, the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is leading the investigation.
Department officials said the request was made to maintain transparency and public trust following community inquiries about the incident.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
To protect the integrity of the investigation, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety said it will not release additional details or comment on the circumstances of the incident at this time.
Officials said more information may be released once the investigation is completed and reviewed, in accordance with applicable laws and investigative procedures.
