Carbondale man charged after stabbing linked to personal dispute

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — A Carbondale man was arrested Thursday evening after police said he stabbed another man during a dispute.
Officers responded at approximately 7:43 p.m. June 12 to the area of East Main and South Wall street’s following reports of a disturbance that may have involved a stabbing, according to the Carbondale Police Department.
When officers arrived, those involved had already left the scene. Police later located the victim at a local hospital, where he was receiving treatment for a non-life-threatening stab wound.
Investigators determined the victim had been approached and stabbed by Theo L. Scott, 34, of Carbondale, during an encounter stemming from an unresolved personal dispute.
Officers later located Scott in the 500 block of East Burke Street and took him into custody. He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Police said Scott was treated for a minor injury he sustained during the incident before being transported to the Jackson County Jail, where he is being held pending a detention hearing.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
