JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe announced the Missouri Capitol dome was illuminated purple Sunday in recognition of Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
The observance is intended to raise awareness about abuse, neglect and financial exploitation affecting older adults and vulnerable individuals.
Kehoe encouraged Missourians to report suspected cases involving seniors or disabled adults who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, bullying or exploitation.
Reports can be made to the Missouri Adult Abuse and Neglect Hotline at 1-800-392-0210. The hotline operates from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Online reporting is available 24 hours a day through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
